We can't wait to welcome you to the Penn State community. Follow these steps to apply to get started on your application today.

Steps to Apply for Transfer Admission

Please review these helpful steps to understand the Penn State application process as a transfer student.

1

Create a MyPennState account.

Our application for transfer admission is available in the MyPennState Portal. Visit MyPennState and create an account to get started on your application.

2

Pick your program, campus, and starting term.

Transfer students have many majors to pick from, and they all have slightly different admission requirements. The best way to sort through our majors and their requirements, is to visit our Undergraduate Majors listing. Each major explains which campus you can start your degree at, where you can finish, and if there are additional requirements to meet to be eligible to transfer.

You can also explore all of our Penn State campuses, if you're not sure where you'd like to start or finish your degree!

3

Submit your application on the MyPennState Portal.

After you've selected your program, campus, and starting term, it's time to submit your application on the MyPennState Portal.

4

Send us your official transcripts.

Transcripts must be sent directly from your prior institution to be considered official. You must submit a transcript from every institution where you attempted coursework.

Directions for submitting transcripts and other transfer-related documents can be found on our Transfer Credit Evaluation page.

5

Review your checklist on the MyPennState Portal.

Some programs have additional application requirements, which will be detailed in your Application Checklist on MyPennState.

6

View your admission decision.

Your application status will update in the MyPennState Portal as soon as a decision is available.

Admitted students will receive an Evaluation of Transferable Credits via email. This document explains how your credit from prior institutions transfers to Penn State, and if there are any courses pending an evaluation.

Details on transfer courses pending review, submitting your syllabi for transfer course review, and understanding your Evaluation of Transferable Credits can be found on our Transfer Credit Evaluation page.

Transfer Students: Dates and Deadlines

Transfer applicants are evaluated on a rolling admissions basis. Some academic programs have limited enrollment or specific application dates other than the priority deadlines outlined in the chart below. In addition to reviewing these deadlines, you should review the transfer requirements outlined for your intended major.

Preferred filing dates for Commonwealth Campus programs may differ from those shown above. Please contact your campus of interest for more information.
