YORK, Pa. — Got corn? Penn State York students, faculty and staff, and members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York, collected 323 lbs. and 57 oz. of corn for LifePath Christian Ministries for their Community Giving Project. LifePath will provide 1,100 Thanksgiving meal kits, which will include the corn, for those in need.
Ann Fetterman, assistant teaching professor in English, along with York students Monica Rivera and Cynthia Saunders, coordinated the project.
The corn collection was a friendly competition with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York being the winner. The OLLI group collected the most corn, at 175 lbs. and 29 oz.; faculty and staff gathered 78 lbs., and students brought in 69 lbs. 71 oz. The real winners are the York area residents who will have food on their tables to celebrate Thanksgiving, said Fetterman.
LifePath, formerly the York Rescue Mission, serves homeless, hungry and hurting neighbors in York, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding community. The campus has worked with the organization on a number of projects.
