DALLAS, Pa. — Penn State Wilkes-Barre held its second authors’ reception on Dec. 3, recognizing campus faculty and staff members who published works in 2024.

The event, planned by Nesbitt Library staff and held in Barry Auditorium inside Nesbitt Academic Commons, provided an opportunity for the campus community to congratulate and show their appreciation to the published authors.

“Last year during the event, we had many guests tell us how much they enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the celebration and being able to see the publications on display,” said Courtney Snow, library services associate, who coordinated the event. “We wanted to continue that practice to honor our campus authors.”

Publications included scholarly journal articles, collaborations on book chapters and journal articles. This year’s published authors were Christyne Berzsenyi, professor of English; Dimitrios Bolkas, associate professor of surveying engineering; Erin Brennan, associate teaching professor of business; Stephanie Gresh, assistant teaching professor of business; Jeremy Olson, assistant professor of criminal justice; Iris Ouellette, lecturer of English; Rebecca Sarver, assistant teaching professor of criminal justice; and Natalya Vodopyanova, assistant teaching professor of corporate communication.

Each author’s publication was available to view during the reception. Val Lynn, head librarian, gave an introduction to a slide presentation that displayed the authors’ names and publications and congratulated them for their success. Refreshments were served to attendees.

Snow said, “On a campus with so many differing disciplines, a ceremony like this gives visibility to everyone, regardless of their background or current position. I love being able to host an event like this where everyone gets to see a little bit of each other.”
