UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In January 2024, University Police and Public Safety (UPPS) announced the completion of a 911 addressing project, which resulted in the re-addressing of all buildings at University Park and 21 of Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses. All faculty, staff and students are reminded that these new addresses for mailing are now in effect, and addresses must use the following format:

Penn State
Individual name
XXX Building Name (ex. Suite # Building Name; 104 University Support Building I)
XXX NEW 911 address (ex. 8 University Drive)
University Park, PA 16802

The project, led by UPPS’s Emergency Management unit, involved partnerships with numerous internal Penn State departments, external law enforcement and others. The addressing of buildings on Penn State’s campuses was aimed at proactively assisting first responders, including police, fire and emergency medical services when responding to incidents on campuses.

The use of these new addresses is now mandatory, not only for public safety but for mailing services. Continued use of old addresses could result in emergency responders responding to incorrect locations, and these addresses will no longer work for mail or package delivery through the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx or UPS, or other addressed delivery services. Incorrectly addressed packages cannot be forwarded to correct locations.

Students living on campus should check with their residence hall for proper mailing address and format.

Addresses for buildings at the University Park campus can be found here. Addresses for buildings at the Commonwealth Campuses can be found in FIS Lion Space (check with your campus about how to direct mail, as this differs across locations).
