University Police and Public Safety to hold open house on Dec. 6

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Police and Public Safety (UPPS) will hold an open house for all students, faculty and staff from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at its newly renovated offices in Suite 104 of University Support Building I at University Park.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility that houses UPPS’s criminal investigations, physical security and emergency management units, as well as University Police Dispatch. Additionally, staff from the department’s community-oriented policing, public safety specialists (armed) and auxiliary student officer units will share information about available community education programs and their work at the University. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the various safety and security resources and services provided by the department, meet with administrative staff and officers, and discover career opportunities now available.

“This open house is aimed at showcasing the many programs and services provided by the units in University Police and Public Safety and unveiling the new office location and its housed services, employees and advanced technologies,” said Chief of Police and Public Safety Wesley Sheets. “This inside look into the back end of police operations at Penn State allows our employees to share with the Penn State community the many ways in which they work hard every day to keep our community a safe place to live, work and learn.”

Visitors do not need to register for the event. University Support Building I is located on University Drive and is accessible via the free Campus Shuttles. Information on Campus Shuttle service can be found at transportation.psu.edu
