UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Transportation Services has announced its spring 2025 event schedule for the Bike Den, including workshops and a monthly night dedicated to women and the LGBTQ+ community.
Located on the ground floor of the West Deck, the Bike Den is a community-focused space that provides resources and support for biking, including DIY bike repair, bike clinics, workshops and other educational opportunities. Regular hours are Monday through Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m., and all Bike Den services and activities are free and available to students, faculty and staff as well as local community members who are 18 years and older.
"All Wet Weather Biking 101" and "Bike Safety 101" workshop attendees will receive a free pair of Penn State bike lights. Space is limited, and RSVPs must be received by the day before each workshop.

Women and Queer Night at the Bike Den
First Thursday of each month – March 6, April 3, May 1 (6:15–8:15 p.m.)
Attendees can work on their bikes, enjoy free pizza, talk to Bike Den staff and volunteers, and learn more about biking at Penn State and the surrounding area.
In addition to creating a local community centered around cycling, this event provides an opportunity for underrepresented populations to connect and meet other cyclists whose biking experience ranges from beginner to seasoned cyclists and bike mechanics. The series is co-sponsored by Penn State's Center for Gender Equity and Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity.
Wet Weather Biking 101 Workshop
Wednesday, March 26 (6:15–7:15 p.m.)
Workshop instructors will share tips to keep cyclists safe and bikes in working order during seasonal rain. As this is an indoor, classroom-style workshop, a bicycle will not be required for participation.
There will also be a demonstration on making a homemade bike fender from recycled materials that can help keep riders dry when biking in the rain. Participants should bring recycled materials such as cardstock board (cereal boxes, frozen food boxes, etc.) and cardboard for the bike fender portion of the workshop.
Bike Safety 101 Workshop
Tuesday, April 24 (6:15–8:15 p.m.)
This workshop will teach participants the rules of the road and bike safety skills before bringing the group outside to a beginner-friendly practice course. A bike and helmet are required to participate.
