UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Office of Student Conduct, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, is seeking faculty and staff volunteers for the University Conduct Board (UCB), the Student Organization Conduct Committee (SOCC), and Title IX Panel.
By becoming a board member or panelist, faculty and staff are engaging in a valuable service to the University and local community. In addition, volunteers are providing important developmental opportunities for students.
The UCB and SOCC boards hear cases related to University code of conduct violations for individuals or organizations. The Title IX Panel hears cases pertaining to alleged Title IX violations, which include all forms of sexual or gender-based misconduct.
Volunteers for any of these groups are required to complete approximately 10 hours of training on related topics in addition to being available for conduct boards and/or Title IX panels throughout the year. Training dates for fall are set for Sept. 15 and 19. These dates are subject to change and volunteers need to attend one of these sessions. If a faculty/staff member is interested but is unable to attend one of these dates, they should still volunteer as later training dates may be added.
Faculty and staff who have served previously expressed their appreciation of the experience, the tremendous amount they learned about the student body, and the ability to contribute to the University outside of their work responsibilities.
To learn more or apply to serve on the UCB, the SOCC and/or the Title IX Panel, contact Meg Brower, assistant director in the Office of Student Conduct at meh182@psu.edu or at 814-863-3042.
