UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students new to the University Park campus are encouraged to mark their calendars to join Penn State University Libraries' spring Open House, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, in Pattee Library and Paterno Library at University Park. A snow makeup date is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 2, if necessary.
To complete the Open House tour, students are required to swipe their Penn State ID cards at seven self-guided tour stops to check in, while learning more about the Libraries’ academic, research and leisure resources and services.
The full tour includes seven stops throughout Pattee and Paterno Libraries. Each tour stop engages students with activities or brief presentations to highlight the Libraries’ services. Stops include:
- Read for fun.
- Reserve a group study room.
- Read a call number.
- Start your research.
- Navigate the Stacks.
- Get help.
- Find a subject expert.
Students who complete all stops will receive a free Penn State University Libraries embroidered beanie hat, while supplies last, and an emailed certificate of completion to share with instructors.
University Libraries administrators, faculty and staff volunteer at the two-day event to help students learn more about on-site and online resources available to students, and answer questions about the Libraries.
