UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In conjunction with an ongoing digital exhibition from Penn State University Libraries’ Eberly Family Special Collections Library titled "The World According to Doyle: Editorial Cartoons from the Jerry Doyle Papers at Penn State," curators from the Eberly Family Special Collections Library and Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Signe Wilkinson will present "Pen with a Punch: Political Cartoons by Jerry Doyle and Signe Wilkinson."

The virtual conversation will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, via Zoom. Registration is required.

During the event, curators will offer a brief overview of the exhibition, followed by a discussion with Wilkinson about her groundbreaking career as a female editorial cartoonist, Jerry Doyle’s legacy, and the current state of editorial cartooning within the changing landscape of modern journalism. Wilkinson has been an editorial cartoonist at the Philadelphia Daily News and Philadelphia Inquirer, as well as president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. Her most recent publications include “Free Speech and Why You Should Give a Damn” with Jonathan Zimmerman (2021) and “Herstory: 19 Cartoons Celebrating the 19th Amendment” (2020). Notably, Wilkinson is the only cartoonist to be awarded the title "The Pennsylvania State Vegetable Substitute."
