UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — PSU Press Art Director Regina Starace’s work on "Scented Visions: Smell in Art, 1850–1914" has been shortlisted for the 2022 Bridgeman Images Book Cover Awards. Now in its fifth year, the Bridgeman competition celebrates the very best in North American literary design. The two finalists will be announced on Jan. 31.

Starace’s design work has earned honors from the New York Book Show, AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers, AUPresses Book Jacket and Journal Show, and Central Pennsylvania Creative Professionals. She joined Penn State University Press as senior designer in 2015.

For almost 50 years, Bridgeman Images has partnered with designers by providing standout photography and artwork that helps bring their book cover designs to life. Ten of the applicants from both the Trade and Academic categories have been selected for their outstanding use of Bridgeman Images’ photography and artwork in book cover design.
