UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Press has announced the fall 2022 lineup for PSU Press Presents, a monthly series of free virtual events that feature authors of new and recent books in conversation with one another. Topics reflect the wide range of subjects published by the Press, including Jewish studies, literature, politics and history.
The first event, “Germans Beyond Europe,” features the authors of new books in the series published in collaboration with Penn State’s Max Kade Institute. This event will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The September event, “Politics, Power, and Philosophy,” will bring together the authors of three new books in the Press’s rhetoric and philosophy lists, and October will spotlight a discussion among authors of new books in the "Dimyonot: Jews and the Cultural Imagination" series. Other events in the lineup include a panel highlighting the "Religion Around" series, which examines cultural icons such as Walter Benjamin and Virginia Woolf as religious subjects, and a discussion between authors of new books in the Penn State series "History of the Book."
PSU Presents was launched in 2020 as a way for authors, editors, and readers to connect after the cancellation of in-person author events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has become a popular program at the Press. Attendance is free, but advance registration is required. Events will take place on Zoom and recordings are subsequently made available for viewing.
