UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On Thursday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Penn State Sustainability (SustainPSU) will be hosting a virtual career webinar aimed at offering beneficial tips and skills to students interested in pursuing sustainability and environmental-oriented internships and careers. The webinar is open to all Penn State students across all campuses; attendees can register here.
SustainPSU recognizes the intersection between students’ desire for sustainable careers and businesses' need for a more sustainably literate workforce. Equipping students with the necessary skills to successfully market themselves and connecting them with the right people, companies, and organizations will be essential in fulfilling this need. This career webinar will be focused on creating a space where interested students can learn more about how to find, reach out, and succeed in gaining careers within the sustainability and environmental sectors.
The webinar will begin with a session on beneficial skills for those interested in a sustainable career and will end with a conversation with representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Panelists include:
-
Matt Beaver, district forester, DCNR
-
Mike Maddigan, chief of the Land Recycling Program, DEP
-
Tim Barrick, solid waste specialist, DEP
-
Mark Vottero, chief of the Waste Minimization and Planning Division, DEP
-
Jessica Shilladay, Solid Waste Program specialist, DEP
