UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Registration is now open for the 2025 Undergraduate Exhibition, Penn State’s largest and most inclusive academic undergraduate event.

Each year, hundreds of students from all academic disciplines are judged on their research posters, oral presentations or performances. This year’s virtual portion of the exhibition will run from April 14-16. Participants with a research poster can also opt to attend the exhibition in person on April 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Alumni Hall, HUB-Robeson Center.

Applications are open now on Symposium and close March 17.

Additionally, the School of Music will host “An Evening of Creative Inquiry in Music” from 7:30-9 p.m. April 16 at the Recital Hall, University Park campus. Students interested in participating can contact Jacob Holster, assistant teaching professor of music education, at jbh6331@psu.edu.

About the Undergraduate Exhibition

Each student participant will be judged by faculty, post-docs or emeriti faculty and prizes will be awarded for various categories.

Presentations are a great option for students whose disciplines do not use traditional posters to present scholarly work. These are to be recorded as videos of a maximum of five minutes long per presenter or group of presenters.

Performances also will be recorded in video form and can be music, writing, poetry reading, dance, theater and other displays.

The traditional poster is the most popular way to convey research. There are five poster-judging categories: arts and humanities (including visual arts), engineering, health and life sciences, physical sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.

Students may submit course-based projects, research or creative work completed as part of a class assignment.

Preparing for the Undergraduate Exhibition

For many students, the Penn State Undergraduate Exhibition is their first opportunity to participate in an academic exhibition. To help prepare, students can attend the online workshop “Showcase Your Research: A Guide to Posters and Conference Applications” at 3:30 p.m. March 5. Register for the research poster workshop at urfm.psu.edu

Undergraduates can attend the Graduate Exhibition 2025 on Friday, March 28, to get a better understanding of academic exhibitions.  Research poster, design and visual arts exhibitors will present from 1 to 4 p.m. in the HUB-Robeson Center, with visual arts exhibitions on display in the HUB Gallery from March 24 to April 28. The Graduate Exhibition Performance Night will be held in the Music Building from 7 to 9 p.m. on March 28.

The Undergraduate Exhibition is coordinated by Penn State Undergraduate Education.
