UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State THON and sponsor PNC Bank featuring Four Diamonds Families will hold the annual 5K on Oct. 16. Participants can join the in-person or virtual race.
The annual THON 5K Powered by PNC is THON’s first in-person event of the year. This year’s race is themed “Discover New Beginnings,” and a portion of each registration fee directly benefits THON’s yearlong fundraising efforts in the battle against childhood cancer.
The in-person 5K option will offer opportunities to interact with Four Diamonds Families and THON Volunteers and will feature various performances, live music and a raffle. A virtual option for participation will also be available. A livestream will be running from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on the day of the race at THON.org.

The purpose of the THON 5K Powered by PNC is to support THON’s yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer. The 5K registration fee will directly benefit Four Diamonds Families at the Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, which will be used to help cover 100% of the costs of patient care as well as to fund critical, life-saving research.
