UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As election season approaches, Penn State is reminding all students, faculty, and staff that PSU Votes is the only trusted resource for voter information and registration connected to the University. While other third-party voter registration efforts may seem convenient, they are not always reliable, and students should be cautious when sharing personal information.

Members of the Penn State community are encouraged to utilize PSU Votes' existing online resources for accurate and up-to-date information on voter registration, upcoming elections, and how to make your vote count. Information shared by PSU Votes has been vetted and sources are trustworthy and non–partisan, said Kendall Mainzer, program coordinator.

"PSU Votes was designed specifically for our students, faculty, and staff to ensure they have access to trusted and reliable resources while they engage in the voting process," said Mainzer. "We have heard of limited instances where third-party efforts have resulted in mistreatment of student information. While these have been isolated, we want students to feel confident in registering to vote and that starts with using trusted resources."

PSU Votes offers comprehensive voter information, including how to register, important deadlines, and answers to frequently asked questions.

Mainzer reminds students that sharing personal information through non-verified third-party platforms can pose privacy risks.

“We encourage everyone to get registered and plan to vote. That process starts with registering with a trusted and reliable source, which is where PSU Votes can help,” said Mainzer. “The safest way to register is to do so online via an official process or by completing a paper copy in 103 HUB-Robeson Center with our staff. PSU Votes has step-by-step instructions on how to register safely.”

Faculty and staff are also encouraged to review the resources and guidelines available on how to support voting activity appropriately. Key policies and procedures, modules, as well as an asset library for Canvas courses, are available for review at psuvotes.psu.edu
