Penn State Student Affairs to host hazing prevention workshop for faculty, staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Student Affairs will host a Hazing Prevention Workshop for faculty and staff to increase systemwide collaboration around hazing prevention, reporting and response over two days of in-depth discussions and activities.  

Lead by Penn State’s own Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research and the Hazing Prevention Network, participants will be able to increase knowledge of current hazing prevention policies and practices at Penn State, identify and examine existing barriers to supporting student leaders in their effort to eradicate hazing, discuss best practices, develop action steps and improve partnerships. 

“We are fortunate to have strong partnerships at Penn State and talented colleagues in the hazing prevention space,” said Andrea Dowhower, vice president for Student Affairs. “Offering the opportunity to come together to continue our progress in combating hazing on our campuses is crucial in keeping our students safe.” 

The workshop will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, from noon to 6 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, at the Marriott Foundation Building at University Park.  

Faculty and staff can register online to attend . Space is limited and there is no cost to attend thanks to support from Student Affairs.
