UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students are reminded of the importance of taking part in their civic responsibility to vote and to plan accordingly for the upcoming primary election in Pennsylvania on April 23.
Primary elections give voters the chance to influence who represents each political party on the November ballot. In Pennsylvania, voters are selecting their party’s candidates for U.S. President and Congress. There are also important state-level primary elections for Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, Auditor General, Treasurer and General Assembly.
Check your registration and find your polling location.
In Pennsylvania, all voters have an assigned polling location based on the address they used to register to vote. Visit the PA Voter Registration website to verify that you are registered and to check the address of your assigned polling location.
Make a plan to cast your vote
If you are voting in-person, check your calendar and schedule time to go to your assigned polling location. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
If you requested a Pennsylvania mail-in ballot and still need to return it, follow the instructions that came with your ballot on how to and where to return it. Check dates, times and locations carefully.
Learn about the candidates on your ballot.
Visit Vote411 or Ballotpedia, enter your address and review who will be on your ballot. Take time to learn about the candidates and decide who to vote for by using candidates’ websites or non-partisan resources like the League of Women Voters of Centre County, WPSU or other local newspapers.
