UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, and Penn State is encouraging all registered voters to research candidates, know where to vote, and cast their ballot.

Below is a list of tips and reminders ahead of Election Day from PSU Votes, the University's trusted source for nonpartisan voting information:

  • Research the candidates and issues on your ballot
Registered voters are encouraged to learn about the candidates running for office and issues on the ballot. Trusted resources shared at psuvotes.psu.edu can be used to find details on races happening in your area.

  • Make and take notes
Voters can bring their phones or notes with them to cast their vote. While researching candidates and issues, write down information to help you navigate your ballot.

  • Request a sample ballot
Sample ballots are available in advance. Review what the ballot for your polling place looks like so you know what to expect and can complete it with confidence. You can also ask for help while voting from volunteers working at your polling place.

  • Know where to vote
Your registered voting address is tied to a physical polling place. You must cast your vote at that designated polling place. Use the Polling Place Lookup Tool on PSU Votes or visit your county’s election office to find where you can vote. Penn State students cannot vote on campus unless their registered address is assigned to the HUB polling location.

  • Have the right ID
In Pennsylvania, first-time voters or those voting at a new polling place will need to bring an accepted form of identification.

Eligible voters can also visit the Centre County Satellite Election Office in the Hammond Building to check their voter registration status and more until Oct. 29. For more information about the satellite office, as well as answers to questions about voting in Centre County, visit the Centre County Elections Office website.

Additional resources and information about the voting process can be found online with PSU Votes, or by visiting the PSU Votes office during business hours in 103 HUB-Robeson Center or at its information table in the HUB.
