UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On Jan. 10, the Gamma chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho agreed to an organizational suspension by the Penn State Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response through Aug. 12. The suspension follows an investigation stemming from allegations that the chapter hosted an unauthorized event in November 2023. At the time, the chapter was prohibited from hosting social events due to prior organizational misconduct.
Both the local chapter and the Alpha Gamma Rho National Fraternity have been working closely with the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response to develop a comprehensive reeducation plan to realign the chapter with the fraternity’s values and principles as well as the University’s expectations for student organizations. The National Fraternity has agreed to facilitate educational opportunities for individual students who wish to continue their membership with the group when the suspension is lifted.
While on suspension, the local chapter loses all privileges of a recognized student organization. The organization is prohibited from participating in, attending or organizing any functions, activities or events, including University-wide events, and may not function as a sanctioned organization at Penn State. The chapter status does not prevent the National Fraternity from working with the University to provide educational opportunities for individual students.
