UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Debbie Jozefick, administrative support assistant in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, has been honored with the 2022 Support Staff Award at Penn State.

The award recognizes the overall high-quality performance of a full-time member of the support staff with at least five years of active service in fulfilling the mission of the University and of his or her college or administrative unit. It also recognizes dedicated focus to customer service, commitment to quality improvement, outstanding skills and abilities, teamwork and professionalism.

Nominators said Jozefick excels in her duties interacting with faculty, staff and students. She helps new faculty with office setup, supply purchases, hiring new staff and wage-payroll students. They said Jozefick is an expert in the complexities of travel policies, reimbursements and the reconciliation of purchasing card charges. Some junior faculty members praised Jozefick for making the transition go so smoothly.

Jozefick is also the primary administrative support assistant for the master of professional studies (MPS) in the nutrition science graduate degree program and is the initial point of contact for prospective MPS students. Nominators said she’s been instrumental in getting the program that began in 2017 off the ground.

She’s also cross-trained in several areas of her department and, the highly valued team player, can assist other areas whenever necessary, nominators said.

“Jozefick is always ready to lend a hand to our students, staff and faculty,” a nominator said. “Her professionalism is apparent in everything that she does. She is friendly, helpful, proactive and responsive to students, staff and faculty; thus, is capable of communicating effectively across a wide range of domains.”

Nominators said Jozefick is a self-starter, fast learner and a strong communicator. She’s responsive, adaptable and highly organized, which makes her outstanding in her role.

“Debbie is a pleasure to work with, a key asset to the department, and she takes pride in helping the department and programs run smoothly and efficiently,” a nominator said. “We are fortunate to have her in this role.”
