Penn State Environmental Resource Management students recently traveled to Antarctica for a two-week field excursion and collaborative trip with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. They explored famous sites such as the Beagle Channel, Antarctic Peninsula and Cape Horn, where they observed wildlife, icebergs, coves, inlets, islands and bays.
The course, ERM 499 Antarctica: Human Impacts on a Fragile Environment, is offered through the College of Agricultural Sciences. It is the first embedded course with travel to Antarctica offered at Penn State.
