Sherise Curd named to Penn State Smeal Tarriff Center Advisory Board

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Michelle Darnell, director of the Penn State Smeal College of Business Tarriff Center for Business Ethics and Social Responsibility, has announced that Sherise Curd has accepted an invitation to join the Tarriff Center Advisory Board. 

Curd, vice president of human resources at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) for HPE Operations, will serve a three-year term.  

“Curd’s extensive human resources experience and commitment to developing impactful strategies in talent management, employee engagement, leadership coaching, and inclusion and diversity will bring invaluable insight to our board. Her leadership in organizational transformations will significantly benefit the Tarriff Center,” said Darnell.  

Joining HP (now HPE) in 1997, Curd began her career in finance before transitioning to human resources to lead the University Recruiting Program for the organization.  

Curd is a Gallup-certified strengths coach, a role in which she passionately applies her problem-solving skills to help others discover their strengths and maximize their potential. This commitment reflects her daily mission to enhance the quality of life for her colleagues, both within and outside the workplace. 

In addition to her professional achievements, Curd holds a bachelor’s degree in business management (1993) and an MBA (1997) from Penn State. She is a sustaining member of the Twelve Days of Christmas Inc., a nonprofit charitable organization focused on positively impacting the lives of the underserved within their communities. Her leadership and dedication to community service have been recognized through her role as past vice chair of the National Board of the Twelve Days of Christmas, as well as past vice president of the Houston chapter. 

Curd resides in Houston, Texas, where she cherishes time with her 7-year-old son, Alexander, and is an active parent volunteer in his Cub Scouts Pack and school activities, highlighting the importance she places on balancing professional excellence with family life. 

“Sherise’s understanding of what constitutes true success, along with her deep ties to the Penn State community, make her an exceptional addition to our board,” Darnell said. “We are excited to leverage her expertise as we continue to advance the mission of the Tarriff Center.” 

Curd’s role on the advisory board will include guiding the strategic planning of the center, engaging with students and contributing to the development of initiatives that promote business ethics and social responsibility.
