DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton will host a mini job fair for students in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing's nursing degree program from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, in the Nursing Suite's lobby. The event aims to connect nursing students with local healthcare recruiters from major health systems.

Jon Tobin, coordinator of career services at Penn State Scranton, emphasized the unique benefits of the event.

“This nursing mini job fair will allow our nursing students to gain access to local hospitals and healthcare professionals in our new campus nursing facility,” he said. “It will give our nursing students a unique one-on-one opportunity to have direct access to these professionals instead of partaking in a larger, multi-employer job-fair setting. This allows nursing candidates to get a jump-start on securing full-time nursing positions well in advance of graduation.”

The fair will feature representatives from several regional health care organizations, including Commonwealth Health, Geisinger Health System, Allied Services, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Director for Undergraduate Nursing Education and Assistant Teaching Professor of Nursing at Penn State Scranton Justina Malinak noted the collaborative effort behind the event.

“With our newly renovated nursing/library renovated space, career services and nursing have collaborated to host a nursing/health care job fair,” she said. “We look forward to students, faculty, staff and recruiters joining us for this event.”

Malinak said the nursing job fair is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for nursing students to explore job openings and engage in one-on-one discussions with hospital recruiters.
