DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced Education Program Specialist Jo Ann Durdan, in the campus' Center for Business Development and Community Outreach, is the Employee of the Month for October.

Each month, nominations are received in the chancellor's office for employees whose peers feel they have gone above and beyond in their job duties.

In nominating Durdan, CBDCO Director John Drake wrote: “Youth camps made a return to campus this past summer after a two-year COVID hiatus. Jo Ann’s new role placed her in charge of the camps. This was no easy task — reviewing historical practices to learn the job; learning new registration and HR processes and systems; implementing new youth compliance and special youth COVID protocols; and all while training our new administrative assistant on the camp procedures that she had done prior to the pandemic. Jo Ann was not only committed to having a successful camp program on campus, but she was determined to have it be one of our best. Jo Ann succeeded through her diligent planning, and tireless execution of all the needed details.”

Congratulations, Jo Ann!

The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton.

Campus staff, faculty and students are encouraged to nominate staff members that deserve to be recognized for “going above and beyond.” The link for nominations is here.
