Penn State Schuylkill joins Eastern College Athletic Conference

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — In a move that promises to reshape the direction of its athletics program, Penn State Schuylkill has become the first non-NCAA institution to be granted membership in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The campus' involvement in the ECAC underscores Penn State Schuylkill's commitment to excellence in athletics, academics and student engagement.

Joining the ECAC is a significant step for Penn State Schuylkill, a campus known for its strong commitment to providing students with unparalleled opportunities both on and off the field. This membership opens the door for Penn State Schuylkill's athletic teams to compete at a higher level, gain greater visibility, and engage in a wider array of intercollegiate competitions.

"We are thrilled and honored to be the first non-NCAA institution to join the ECAC," said Cory Scherer, director of academic affairs and interim chancellor of Penn State Schuylkill. "This membership is a testament to the hard work, dedication and excellence of our student-athletes, coaches and athletic department staff. It marks a new chapter in our athletic program's history, one that will bring immense pride to our campus and community."

Kayla Felty, Penn State Schuylkill's director of athletics, added, "Our inclusion in the ECAC reflects our continued commitment to fostering a competitive athletic environment. We look forward to the new opportunities this will bring for our student-athletes to showcase their talents and represent Penn State Schuylkill on a larger stage."

Asked about the addition of Penn State Schuylkill to the conference, ECAC CEO and commissioner Dan Coonan said, "The ECAC is thrilled to welcome Penn State Schuylkill to the ECAC.
