'Queen of Katwe' Film Screening: Part of 'Confronting Cinematic Stereotypes' Course

A screening of the film "Queen of Katwe" will be held as part of the "Confronting Cinematic Stereotypes" Course at Penn State Schuylkill.

This non-credit course is $30 for community members, and free for faculty and staff members (code included in campus newsletter).

The "Queen of Katwe" tells the story of Phiona Mutesi's (Madina Nalwanga) journey as a Ugandan chess star and her rise to stardom. The film was inspired by Tom Crothers' book, "The Queen of Katwe: A Story of Life, Chess, and One Extraordinary Girl's Dream of Becoming a Grandmaster."
