Workshop 2: Cultivation of Locus of Control

The workshops will be held in person and on Zoom. In-person attendees will receive dinner during the workshop. Students may attend one or both workshops. Registration is required.
The workshops will be run by Rhoda Moise of Dr. Rho Wellness. Moise earned her bachelor’s degree in biobehavioral health with honors from Penn State with a focus on global chronic disease prevention and control. She also holds a doctorate in prevention science and community health from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Moise completed a 200-hour certification as a yoga teacher in Ancient Egyptian practice of Tjef Neteru Sema Paut. Her mixed methods research, teaching, and services examine achieving equitable approaches to global health. Beyond her academic roles, she serves as a community health and wellness consultant raising awareness about the holistic practices to grow and sustain well-being.
Each workshop will include an interactive session with breathwork, mindful movement, individual reflections of aspirations, small group activities, large group debriefing, and a closing mediation.
In addition to providing participants with tools to sustainably support their wellness journeys, the goal is to ease the pressures of academic achievement and advocacy after unprecedented and tumultuous times of uncertainty. Participants will leave the workshop(s) with personal and professional awareness and wellness action plans, as well as increased locus of control and communal connectedness.
The workshops are organized in collaboration with student groups, including Queer and Trans People of Color at Penn State (QTPOC), Latino Caucus, Black Caucus, Penn State Multicultural Greek Council, International and Multicultural Association of Schreyer Scholars, and Gender and Sexual Diversity in Schreyer.
