UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Completing an undergraduate degree is a monumental feat, symbolizing a student’s steadfast hard work and dedication in their desired field. While it marks a new and exciting chapter in the lives of Penn State students, many may wonder what lies ahead for them post-graduation.
The Schreyer Honors College “Following the Gong” podcast helps answer this question and more, providing a glimpse into where life takes alumni following their time at Penn State and how their Penn State experiences shaped their career paths.
Listeners can now tune into the seventh season of “Following the Gong,” which is set to feature eight exciting episodes with Scholar alumni.

Penn State Field Hockey’s Associate Head Coach Laura Gebhart, a 2015 agricultural sciences graduate, shares her journey as a student-athlete, and how she effectively balanced both her athletic and academic careers. Gebhart also discusses her pathway to coaching and her current experience as a coach in a nonrevenue sport.

President of Media and Integration at Real Chemistry Jennifer Paganelli Schwartz provides tips for how students can get the most out of their Penn State experience. As a 2002 graduate from the College of the Liberal Arts, she also discusses her healthcare communications background and details the importance of building communication skills and leadership experiences.

Greg Lucier, executive chairman of Corza Health and Penn State Distinguished Alumni, shares valuable insights from his time serving as a corporate leader in a variety of industries. From locomotives to the healthcare field, Lucier describes his journey and professional accomplishments leading a diverse selection of companies. Lucier is a 1986 graduate from the College of Engineering.

Apoorva Mathur, ESG Program Manager at Daimler Truck North America and 2018 engineering graduate, highlights her work in vehicle electrification while discussing how she formed and maintains community as an alum.
The podcast aims to provide these Scholar alumni the space to share career advice and describe how Penn State prepared them for the professional world. In each episode, an alumni guest sits down with host and Scholar alum Sean Goheen to discuss their undergraduate experiences and describe the transition from Penn State to their wide range of respective fields.
All Penn State students as well as young alumni can benefit from the advice and stories these alumni share.
“It’s always rewarding and humbling to speak with Scholar alumni from diverse industries, hometowns, majors, and graduation years,” said Goheen, coordinator of constituent relations and annual giving for Schreyer Honors College. “Each story is unique but also offers universal wisdom to the experience of not only current students but any Penn Stater.”
