UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Undergraduate Exhibition, for many students, is the first time they will formally present research. These early scholarly interactions are crucial steps in the academic journey, and it’s only possible with the help of volunteer judges.
The Office of Undergraduate Education is looking for volunteer faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, post-docs and doctoral students to help judge the hundreds of students who will participate in the 2019 Undergraduate Exhibition on April 17 at the University Park campus.
Two judging sessions will be held, from 4 to 6 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Each judge will be asked to review three to five posters. Judges don’t need to stay the entire session or for the entire exhibition.
The volunteer judge form can be found here. Participants are asked to sign up by April 10.
Last year’s exhibition had a record 360 students registered to participate and was the first year for the performances and oral presentation categories.
Judges are needed in each of the five broad categories: arts and humanities, engineering, health and life sciences, physical sciences and social and behavioral sciences. In addition to the traditional poster format, students may also present a 5-minute performance or a 5-minute oral presentation.
Questions may be directed to Alan Rieck, associate vice president and associate dean for Undergraduate Education, at 814-863-1864 or ajr83@psu.edu.
