UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Department of Graphic Design is hosting two virtual lectures featuring designers from Google and Amazon, respectively, in conjunction with the Stuckeman School’s Career Day 2021 on March 3.
EunJoo Kim, user experience (UX) design lead at Google, will give a talk titled “Designing for Human – Five Design Lessons” at 3 p.m. on March 2, while Amazon brand designer Jordan Richards will join the department at 11 a.m. on March 4 with his talk titled “So What's Next? (And How to Prepare for It).”
Both lectures are free and open to the public; however, pre-registration via the above links is required.
A UX designer and design strategist with more than 25 years of experience, Kim has led teams to deliver the latest in UX design across major global technology companies including Samsung, Motorola, Qualcomm and Google. As an innovative and consistently forward-thinking professional, she has led the advancement of UX design in new emerging product categories including voice assistant (AI), wearables, augmented reality and mobile.
Kim was shortlisted as one of the top 18 women leading the way in wearable tech and virtual reality in 2016 and was also named a top 50 wearable tech gamechanger for 2016, both by Wearable magazine.
A passionate supporter of humanizing technology to design for everyone, Kim holds a master’s degree in human-centered communication design from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Richards has recently transitioned to his role after designing for the Amazon Devices + Alexa team. In 2018, he won an award for best global packaging design in the Adobe Design Achievement Awards.
Richards is passionate about creative problem-solving, holistic branding and photography. With his own journey of navigating a design career out of college, he is also passionate about helping to-be graduates transition and prepare for design post-graduation.
Richards is a native Texan turned Pacific Northwesterner and holds a bachelor of graphic design degree from Oklahoma State University.
