UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — WPSU has canceled the Local Groove Music Fest that was scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8, at Tussey Mountain Ski and Recreation in Boalsburg, due to lower-than-expected advance ticket sales.

All current ticketholders should see a credit to their original payment method within seven to 10 business days.

Musicians scheduled to perform at Local Groove Music Fest included Cass and The Bailout Crew, Hannah Bingman, The Sorters, The Pennsoulvanians, Jim Colbert, and Ted McCloskey and the Hi-Fis.

Some of the bands were first featured by WPSU on The Local Groove Presents. Julie Ammon, a fourth-year digital arts, media design and film production major in Penn State's Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, is a digital production intern for WPSU. She works behind the scenes on The Local Groove Presents and with the musicians.

“My internship focuses on hands-on production experience and offers me the chance to learn more about media production and practice those skills outside of the classroom as it is the kind of work I want to pursue after college,” Ammon said. “The musicians put on lively performances for the public television series, which gives WPSU viewers an opportunity to watch remotely. The Local Groove Music Fest's in-person performances will offer an immersive experience to audiences. All bands are native to Pennsylvania, but they span a variety of genres and styles. Seeing any of these groups perform is a special experience that is worth witnessing, especially live.”

Tickets for the Local Groove Music Fest were $40 per person if purchased in advance. All current ticketholders should see a credit to their original payment method within seven to 10 business days.

WPSU-TV, a Pennsylvania Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) member station, serves 24 counties in central Pennsylvania and reaches 515,000 households, and WPSU-FM is accessible to more than 450,000 listeners in 13 counties.
