UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, post-docs and doctoral students trained as researchers are asked to volunteer as judges for the 2024 Undergraduate Exhibition on Research, Inquiry, and Creative Activity, from April 15-17.

Judges help to make the Undergraduate Exhibition possible each year by scoring posters, presentations and performances across all academic fields. For many undergraduates, this will be their first opportunity to participate in an exhibition and answer questions in a formal setting.

“The Penn State community has been incredibly supportive of our undergraduates and the annual exhibition year after year,” said Alan Rieck, associate vice provost and associate dean for Undergraduate Education. “Volunteer judges are vital in helping us create a memorable event for our young researchers and performers.”

Judge sign-up will be open on the Symposium platform until April 8, and assignments will be sent by April 14. Find instructions on how to sign up for a Symposium account at the Undergraduate Exhibition page at urfm.psu.edu.

All participants in the 2024 exhibition are required to present their projects virtually. In addition, some also will present in a voluntary in-person component at the HUB-Robeson Center at the University Park campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. Judges in the virtual format can complete their judging rubrics at their convenience at any time during the exhibition from April 15-17. Judges available for the in-person session must complete the judging on April 17 in Alumni Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Judges can specify which academic areas they are interested in judging. Students sign up in one of five broad categories: arts and humanities (including visual arts), engineering, health and life sciences, physical sciences, and social and behavioral sciences. Students also may submit Engagement Project Experience posters (non-research) for review.

Special requests for alternative media for individual entries can be directed to undergrad@psu.edu.

The Undergraduate Exhibition is coordinated by Penn State Undergraduate Education.
