‘Strategies for Class Participation’ workshop scheduled

Zoom session slated for March 30; in-person at University Park campus for April 13

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Author and educator Derek Bruff will present “Strategies for Class Participation” in a Zoom and in-person workshop open to Penn State faculty, teaching assistants, instructional/learning designers and administrators at all campuses and colleges.  

Presented by the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence, those wishing to attend the noon to 1 p.m. March 30 Zoom workshop can register at schreyerinstitute.psu.edu. Registration will close one hour before the event and registrants will receive a Zoom link at least one hour before the event. 

Register here for the in-person session from noon to 1 p.m. April 13, which will be held in 129AB HUB-Robeson Center. Registration will remain open until the day of the workshop. 

Bruff is a visiting associate director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the University of Mississippi and author of “Intentional Tech: Principles to Guide the Use of Educational Technology in College Teaching.”  

The workshop will cover how to take a more inclusive, accessible approach to participation in the classroom, whether virtual or in person. Attendees will consider the principles and practices to turn classes into learning communities where students can learn from and with each other.
