UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students trained as researchers are invited to volunteer as judges for the 2025 Undergraduate Exhibition on Research, Inquiry, and Creative Activity, taking place from April 14 to 16.
Each year, volunteer judges play a crucial role in making the Undergraduate Exhibition possible by evaluating posters, presentations and performances across all academic disciplines. For many undergraduates, this event marks their first opportunity to showcase their work and engage in scholarly discussions in a formal setting.
“The Penn State community consistently supports our undergraduates and the annual Exhibition,” said Alan Rieck, associate vice provost and associate dean for Undergraduate Education. “Volunteer judges are essential in fostering a meaningful and rewarding experience for our student researchers and performers.”
Judge sign-up will remain open on the symposium platform until April 9, with assignments distributed by April 13. Instructions for creating a Symposium account and signing up can be found on the Undergraduate Exhibition page at urfm.psu.edu.
All participants in the Undergraduate Exhibition are required to present their projects virtually. Additionally, some will have the option to participate in an in-person component at the HUB-Robeson Center at the University Park campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16. Judges for the virtual format can complete their evaluations at their convenience anytime during the Exhibition window, while those participating in the in-person session must complete their judging on-site at Alumni Hall during the designated hours.
Judges may specify their preferred academic areas for evaluation. Students submit their work in one of five broad categories: arts and humanities (including visual arts), engineering, health and life sciences, physical sciences, and social and behavioral sciences. Engagement Project Experience posters, which focus on non-research activities, are also accepted for review.
Special requests regarding alternative media formats for individual entries can be directed to undergrad@psu.edu.
The Undergraduate Exhibition is organized by Penn State Undergraduate Education.
