UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State will mark National Transfer Student Week in October with events for students who are interested in transferring to Penn State, and for current Penn State students who are considering or have already transitioned to University Park from a Commonwealth Campus. Undergraduate Admissions Office and Student Orientation and Transition Programs will hold events throughout the week from Oct. 21-25.
In fall 2024, nearly 2,000 students transferred to Penn State from another college or university. Each year, about 4,000 Penn Staters change from one campus to another.
Penn State defines a transfer student as someone who will have attempted 18 or more college credits after high school graduation prior to enrolling at Penn State. Transfer students apply to Penn State after having completed college courses at another college or university. Change-of-campus students are already Penn Staters who move to another campus to complete their Penn State degree.
National Transfer Student Week events
Current Penn Staters who transitioned to the University Park campus are invited to the following events:
- Trick-or-Trivia for change-of-campus and transfer students, 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 21, Flex Theater, HUB-Robeson Center
- National Transfer Student Week table in the HUB-Robeson Center, noon-2 p.m. on Oct. 22
- Old Main bell tower open house for change-of-campus and transfer students, 3-5 p.m. on Oct. 25
Students who are interested in transferring to the University Park campus, either from another campus or school, are invited to a special admissions event from 2-6 p.m. on Oct. 21. The event features a campus bus tour, admissions information session, Q&A panel, academic colleges information fair, meetings with representatives from various majors and a complimentary dinner. Also on Oct. 21, from 6-7 p.m., a special Virtual Admission Session will be held for Penn State’s southwestern campuses: Beaver, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, New Kensington and Shenango. Another event will be held for all Penn State campuses from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 24, covering transfer credit information, admissions requirements and more. Register for the virtual sessions here.
Prospective students interested in the University Park, Abington, Altoona, Berks and Schuylkill campuses can sign up for a virtual appointment all week from Oct. 21-25 where they can meet virtually with an admissions counselor for personalized information about applying, degree programs, personal goals and any other questions.
"National Transfer Student Week is always an exciting time, and I am excited to invite prospective transfer students to our different events sponsored by the Undergraduate Admissions Office,” said Lindsay Bolt, assistant director for transfer admission, Undergraduate Admissions Office. “These events are open to any student interested in transferring to Penn State. We will explain the application and transfer credit process, while discussing resources for students interested in transferring to Penn State.”
