UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Student Disability Resources Office and the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will host a Jan. 19 workshop on “Demystifying Academic Accommodations.”

This interactive workshop aims to equip participants with the tools they need to support their students in gaining equitable access to academic learning while preserving the essential elements of their courses. Instructors can receive accommodation letters at any point in the semester, and workshop leaders will discuss what steps to take when one is submitted.

Participants will also review case scenarios and discuss effective ways to address each scenario. Scenarios will focus on accommodations for laboratory courses with timed assignments, group work, flexible attendance and recording of lectures.

This workshop will be offered on Friday, Jan. 19 from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Participants can choose to attend in person or via Zoom. The in-person workshop will be held in the Dewey Room in the Collaboration Commons on the first floor of Pattee Library. In-person attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch; coffee, tea and water will be provided. Zoom attendees will receive a link at least one hour before the event.

To register, visit the Schreyer Institute’s events page.
