UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students, staff and faculty are invited to a screening of the award-winning documentary film “This is Not Financial Advice” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Westgate Building 2nd Floor West Atrium.

This is Not Financial Advice” tells the stories of cryptocurrency and retail investors, whose fortunes oscillate with the volatility of the markets. Among the film’s central subjects is Glauber "Pro" Contessoto, known as the Dogecoin Millionaire. The film chronicles his all-in investment in the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, which he rode to the top of the wave, until that wave crested and fell. The film also explores how social media and online influencers affect and react to the rapidly changing financial landscape.

Presented by the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center, in partnership with Optimist and FINRA, the screening will be accompanied by a Q&A with director Chris Temple and representatives from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

There is no cost to attend. Pizza and refreshments will be available starting at 5:30 p.m., with the film screening to follow at 6 p.m. A virtual screening and Q&A will also be available for those who cannot attend in person and is open to all Penn State campuses.
