UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As announced earlier this year, the flag poles on the Old Main lawn are in the process of being replaced. Since February, temporary poles have been on site. This summer, the temporary flag poles and the existing stone bases will be permanently replaced.
Beginning the week of May 6, construction fencing will be erected around the poles. A temporary access path will be created near the flag poles for heavy equipment to safely approach the site. Construction vehicles and equipment will utilize the Henderson Mall for access to the site, with flaggers on site for pedestrian safety. Pedestrians may encounter temporary sidewalk closures and detours while equipment is operating in the area.
