NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Current Penn State New Kensington students are invited to register for the annual Research and Student Engagement Expo scheduled for April 7. Students will be able to see and present research projects and meet with business and industry leaders about internship and job opportunities.
Before the expo begins, students also will be able to take part in a "Pizza with Professionals" luncheon to enjoy a complimentary lunch and network with employers and guests on campus for the event.
Undergraduate Research
Students are encouraged to seek out faculty members as mentors to work on a research project related to topics that interest them. Projects willthen presented at the expo to fellow students, campus faculty and staff, local business leaders, and members of the community. In the past, projects have come from many different disciplines and have included creative works, scientific experiments, engineering designs, idea prototypes, social innovation endeavors, and much more. Students can view the 2019 event program to see the diversity and creativity of past projects.
Students interested in pursuing a project should speak with faculty members to explore their ideas and visit the campus' Undergraduate Research webpage.
Registration for the 18th annual event, which is required, is open until Jan. 31.
Pizza with Professionals and Career Connections Day
From 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., students participating in the Research and Engagement Expo can enjoy a complimentary lunch during "Pizza with Professionals" in the Conference Center. Students will have the chance to meet and network with the employers and guests on campus that day for the event.
Running concurrent to the expo starting at 12:30 p.m. is the annual Career Connections Day fair in the Athletic Center. Employers and local organizations will be on hand to speak with students about careers, internships and other opportunities.
