HERSHEY, Pa. — Dr. Halina Yee, an obstetrics and gynecology resident at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, was recognized in February as part of the Exceptional Moments in Teaching program of Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine.

“Dr. Yee ensured that medical students were always involved in patient care and was great about explaining the rationale behind what she was doing,” a current student wrote. “She took time to teach me how to tie knots and suture, and was always very encouraging and supportive. Dr. Yee consistently provided feedback and highlighted things that I was doing well, while also providing ways that I could improve in the future.”

Yee is a third-year resident from the Los Angeles area who completed her undergraduate studies at UCLA. After graduating from Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, she couples matched at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for her residency. Yee is passionate about increasing access to health care in underserved areas and has a particular interest in making contraception more readily available. She will be applying for a Complex Family Planning fellowship in the spring. In her free time, Yee enjoys playing with her dog, yoga, rock climbing, playing piano and relearning Spanish.
