HERSHEY, Pa. — Dr. Jordan Fletcher, an obstetrics and gynecology resident at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, was recognized in April 2022 as part of the Exceptional Moments in Teaching program at Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine.
“After having discussions about my skill level and experiences,” a current student wrote, “Dr. Fletcher always made sure I was never in over my head but was appropriately challenged so I could continue to better myself. She would have conversations with me every day we worked together to help me further my knowledge and recommended helpful resources that I could use to be better prepared for patient interactions and cases in the operating room.
“She was able to help me improve my own skill set while still remaining professional, understanding and approachable. One of the best residents I have worked with in medical school.”
Fletcher is a dual MD/MPH graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and a postgraduate year two (PGY2) obstetrics and gynecology resident. She values mentoring medical students and maintains a strong local and national interest in public service through research, community outreach and legislative advocacy roles. Fletcher is a recipient of the 2021 Penn State College of Medicine Excellence in Teaching Award and is equally passionate about gender equity in academic medicine and addressing inequalities to contraceptive access. Away from the hospital, she enjoys spending time with friends, snowboarding, planting and traveling with her husband, Austin, who is a PGY2 urology resident.
