HERSHEY, Pa. — Dr. Eileen Moser, a physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, is featured for November in the “Exceptional Moments in Teaching” program.
“Dr. Moser did an excellent job, especially when she shared personal stories and experiences,” a current student wrote. “The anecdotes involving patients and memories from her professional career put the content we were learning into perspective. She not only opened my eyes to the challenges we will face as we train to become physicians, but also to the exciting experiences that will influence each of our unique journeys.”
Moser is a general internist and geriatrician who has devoted her career to caring for patients and helping medical students and residents become competent, critical-thinking, wholehearted physicians prepared to practice medicine in the future health care environment. She serves as associate dean for medical education and professor of medicine at Penn State College of Medicine. She has a broad background in undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education, with past leadership roles as associate program director, associate chief of medicine for education, director of resident professional development and associate dean for faculty development.
Moser earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Newark, New Jersey. She also holds a master’s degree in health professions education from the University of Illinois Chicago. She was a Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine fellow and was inducted as an American College of Physicians master. Moser currently serves as an ACP regent and chairs several national ACP committees. She is a primary care trustee on the Pennsylvania Medical Society board.
