HERSHEY, Pa. — Dr. Alexis Lo, a third-year plastic surgery resident, is featured for April in the Exceptional Moments in Teaching program at Penn State College of Medicine.
“Alexis Lo is a fearless leader and a charismatic personality in a challenging environment of being chief on an off service critical care setting,” one student said. “She personally expanded my knowledge on plastics reconstruction and proper suture selection with models readily on hand."
“She also taught in-depth about skin flaps and the role they play in wound healing. She was an excellent teacher who clearly cares and rallies the team even when circumstances have been extraordinarily challenging. She is an inspiration to all.”
Lo is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Duke University and attended medical school at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. She chose plastic surgery as she enjoys tackling complex reconstructive cases requiring creativity. Lo enjoys the broad scope of plastic surgery and finds the specialty rewarding as it is able to provide patients with an improved quality of life and sense of self.
In her free time, she enjoys golfing, working out, trying new restaurants and spending time with her co-residents.
