UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Two Penn State men's basketball players were selected in the 2023 NBA Draft on June 22.
Guard Jalen Pickett was selected by the NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the second round with the 32nd overall pick.
Wing Seth Lundy was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round with the 46th overall pick.
In addition, guard Andrew Funk signed an NBA Summer League deal with the Denver Nuggets.
The selections of Pickett and Lundy are the 14th and 15th NBA Draft picks, respectively, from Penn State all time. The pair are the first Penn State players to be chosen in the NBA Draft since Tony Carr was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans as the 51st overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Pickett and Lundy will join Penn State alumnus Lamar Stevens as active alumni players in the NBA.
Pickett is the highest-drafted Nittany Lion in the modern era of the two-round NBA Draft, which dates back to 1989. Calvin Booth was the previous highest pick in modern NBA Draft history when he was taken in the second round as the 35th overall pick by the Washington Wizards. Booth is currently the general manager of the Denver Nuggets.
