Parking, traffic and transit information for Blue-White Weekend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Football will host the annual Blue-White Game at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 15 at Beaver Stadium. Gates will open at 12:30 p.m., and fans are encouraged to arrive early.

BLUE-WHITE BOARDWALK FAN FEST PARKING AND IMPACTS

The Blue-White Boardwalk Fan Fest will take place at the northeast corner of Jordan East parking lot from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Parking will be sponsored by Intercollegiate Athletics at the Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North, and Porter South lots after 4 p.m. Friday.

The northeast corner of Jordan East will be closed from midnight Wednesday through Sunday for Boardwalk set up. All vehicles, including department vehicles, must be removed from this area no later than midnight Wednesday night and access to this area will reopen after outbound Blue-White traffic has ended.

BLUE-WHITE APPAREL AND EQUIPMENT SALE PARKING

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics will host the Blue-White Apparel and Equipment sale at Pegula Ice Arena from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Yellow H parking lots at the Shields and Wagner buildings will open at 8 a.m. and parking will be $20 for those without a Penn State or ICA Football parking permit.

All vehicles, including department vehicles, must be removed from these areas no later than 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Access to these areas will reopen after outbound Blue-White traffic has ended.

BLUE-WHITE GAME PARKING

Football parking areas near Beaver Stadium (between Bigler Road and Mount Nittany Medical Center) are managed by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and require a football permit. Additional on-campus parking for the Blue-White Game will be available through Penn State Transportation Services at the following locations:

EastHUB, and Nittany decks - $20 ($1 per hour for first two hours of parking; payable by credit card upon exiting at pay-on-foot machines)

Eisenhower Deck - $20 (cash only paid upon entry)

West Deck - $1 per hour (payable by credit card upon exiting at pay-on-foot machines)

Tailgating is strictly prohibited at campus parking decks.

WEEKEND VISITOR PARKING

Fans planning to arrive before Saturday must park at the East, HUB, Nittany, or West parking decks. Standard hourly rates apply for parking prior to Saturday.

GAME DAY PARKING CLOSURES/FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENT PARKING ACCESS

The following campus parking lots will close at midnight Friday night in advance of Saturday's Blue-White game:

  • Commuter lots (Jordan East, Stadium West, Porter North, Porter South)
  • Orange L (all sections)
  • Yellow H (Pegula, Shields, and Wagner)
  • Yellow M
  • Yellow V
  • Orange A OPP (east and west)
  • Orange A Katz
  • Orange B (Softball and Pavilions)
  • Orange H (all sections located north of Hastings Road)

In addition to these areas, the east half of Lot Orange U located just east of USB I and II will also be reserved beginning at midnight Friday night.

All vehicles, including department vehicles, must be removed from these areas no later than midnight Friday night. Access to these areas will reopen after outbound football traffic has ended.

During Penn State’s Blue-White game, faculty/staff parking permits are honored at all faculty/staff parking lots located west of Bigler Road, and student parking permits will be honored at all areas located west of Bigler Road that normally allow student parking on weekends (see the lots highlighted in yellow with the E/W symbol on the student parking interactive map).

For a more convenient exit from campus after the football game and to provide greater capacity for visitors at the parking decks, faculty/staff and student permit holders are encouraged to use surface parking areas instead of parking decks on Saturday.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Curtin Road will be closed between University Drive and Porter Road, and Porter Road will be closed between Curtin Road to Park Avenue throughout the day Saturday.

TRANSIT SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS

CATA’s Blue Loop and Red Link service will operate during the Blue-White game, but with the following adjustments to service:

Blue Loop – from Curtin Road, the Blue Loop will follow normal routing to University Drive, then turn right onto University Drive, turn right onto Hastings Road, then follow normal routing. 

Red Link Eastbound (West Campus to Innovation Park) - The Red Link will follow normal routing to University Drive, where it will then turn left onto University Drive, right onto East Park Avenue, and then continue normal routing from the intersection of Porter Road. 

Red Link Westbound (Innovation Park to West Campus) - The Red Link will follow normal routing to the Porter Road/East Park Avenue intersection, where it will continue onto East Park Avenue, turn left onto University Drive, where it will then turn right onto Curtin Road, and continue normal routing.

PATERNO FAMILY BEAVER STADIUM RUN

The annual Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run will be held on campus on Sunday, April 16. The event benefits Special Olympics Pennsylvania and includes a 5K run and a two-mile family fun walk. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Medlar Field, with the 5K run set to begin at 11 a.m. and the two-mile walk set to begin at 11:10 a.m.

Parking for the Beaver Stadium Run will be available at no charge at the Jordan East and Stadium West parking areas.

The 5K run will begin at Curtin Road in front of Beaver Stadium and continue west across the entire length of Curtin Road. Runners will then proceed south on Burrowes Road before turning east on Pollock Road, where they will continue until reaching Shortlidge Road. At Shortlidge, runners will proceed south, then east just below McElwain Hall, and then north on Mifflin Road to again reach Pollock Road, where they will continue eastbound to Bigler Road. At Bigler Road, runners will travel north to Curtin Road, at which point they will head east toward the finish line inside Beaver Stadium.

The two-mile fun walk will follow a similar route but will have participants travel south on Shortlidge Road to reach Pollock Road, from which point the course will mirror the three-mile run/walk to the finish at Beaver Stadium.

Drivers traveling across campus on Sunday morning should anticipate delays as participants proceed through their respective courses and are urged to use caution.
