New Kaltura media retention policy goes into effect Feb. 17

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Starting Monday, Feb. 17, all media items stored in Kaltura that have not been viewed for three years will be flagged for deletion as part of the Kaltura: Retention Policy. Kaltura is the University's media streaming and storage platform.

As part of the policy, all media entries are reviewed twice a year during the fall and spring semesters. Any media items that were not viewed in the previous three years will be flagged for deletion. Designated owners and co-editors of the flagged media will be notified and have 30 days to opt out of media deletion. If no opt-out is requested, the media will be moved to the recycle bin and permanently deleted after 30 days.

This change is in accordance with the University’s General Records Retention Schedule and Policy AD35 University Archives and Records Management.

The designated owner of any media in Kaltura can transfer ownership of any files that should belong to someone else by clicking on the change media owner button within MediaSpace.
