UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Mark Campbell will become associate vice president for infrastructure in Penn State IT, effective June 1. A thorough national search led by a search committee with representation from across University IT began the process to fill the role shortly after Campbell was named interim AVP in January.
Penn State IT Infrastructure provides foundational technologies necessary for University operations, including wireless services, virtual private network access, data center operations, and telephony systems.
"My priorities will remain the same as they have been for the past five months — continuing to provide stability and focusing on helping the University move forward," Campbell said.
Campbell has been with Penn State full time since 2003. He has both an associate and bachelor's degree in information sciences and technology and a master's degree in applied statistics, all from Penn State. Campbell is pursuing his doctorate in information sciences and technology. He also serves as the senior communications officer for the state in the U.S. Army's 28th Infantry Division.
"We are very pleased that Mark accepted our offer to continue to lead the critical work of this team," said Michael Büsges, interim vice president for information technology and chief information officer. "Along with a number of high-profile projects, Infrastructure is about halfway through the three-year Disaster Recovery and Ransomware Response project to improve our capabilities to respond to an IT disaster."
