UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The  2024 Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology is just five months away, and the call for session proposals and innovative ideas for the new Spark Challenge are now being accepted.

Session proposals

The March 23 event will showcase faculty and staff sharing how they use technology in unique ways. Session proposals should focus on topics that demonstrate valuable and innovative use of technology to support teaching and learning across one of these five tracks:

  • Student Learning & Success
  • Instructional Approaches & Pedagogy
  • Immersive Experiences
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

Teaching and Learning with Technology is offering two webinars this month to share tips for designing a proposal with the best chance of acceptance. Anyone considering submitting a proposal may attend either webinar — 1:30 to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 or 1:30 to 2 p.m. Oct. 25. No registration is necessary. Click here to join the webinars

Spark Challenge

Another option for faculty and staff to be part of the TLT Symposium is through the Spark Challenge, which builds on the success of the former Open Innovation Challenge. The Spark Challenge will celebrate innovative ideas and transformative concepts in the artificial intelligence space. Five finalists will present their groundbreaking proposals in five-minute sessions at the symposium. Audience votes will determine the winner.

Visit the Spark Challenge website for more details.

Symposium session proposals and ideas for the Spark Challenge can be submitted through the request for proposals form, which is open through Nov. 6. All proposals will be reviewed before the final selections are made, and presenters will be notified in January.
