UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) has named Miranda Goodman as its summer 2024 student marshal. She will lead the procession of IST graduates during the commencement ceremony, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Student marshals are selected for their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to student life. Goodman majored in data sciences, with an application focus on political science, and minored in security and risk analysis. She earned Dean’s List every semester and was the recipient of several scholarships, including the CyberCorps Scholarship for Service Scholar Award.
“It is an honor to be selected as student marshal,” Goodman said. “The College of IST is home to a unique and diverse community of staff, students and supporters who come together to learn, grow and help shape the world. The opportunities Penn State has given to me will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
As an undergraduate student, Goodman served as the head manager for the Penn State Women’s Volleyball Team and was an active participant in the Association of Women in Computing. She studied abroad in New Zealand and worked as a research assistant in the Human Language and Technologies Lab, led by Shomir Wilson, associate professor in the College of IST.
Goodman completed internships as a solutions engineer at Minitab and a cybersecurity supply chain risk management analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). After graduation, she will work full time for the DoD.
