UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — What is developmentally appropriate behavior for children between the ages of 5 and 10? Penn State Extension will offer a program called “Thrive: Grow,” designed for families and caregivers of children 5 to 10 years old.

The webinar series will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, from May 1 to June 5.

The curriculum is aimed at equipping participants with strategies that are key at this time of growth, such as establishing routines and providing praise and encouragement as children begin to acquire new skills. In addition, sessions will focus on appropriate discipline, teaching emotional coping, and reinforcing physical activity and eating patterns for a healthy lifestyle.

Attendees can gain skills in positive parenting practices, stress management, and child physical health promotion techniques.

This hybrid program includes virtual on-demand lessons combined with online interactive webinars with extension educators and other parents.

Taught by highly qualified educators with years of experience in child development, Thrive offers programs to empower parents and caregivers as they nurture children to adulthood.

Penn State Extension’s food, families and communities unit partnered with the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State to offer the Thrive: Grow program.

Penn State Extension offers this webinar series free of charge, but registration by 1:29 p.m. April 28 is required to receive the link to access the webinars.

More information is available on the Penn State Extension website at extension.psu.edu/thrive-grow.
